How do you check a LinkedIn post image?

Drop your photo into the checker and it compares the file with LinkedIn’s photo rules: at least 552 × 276 px, ideally 1080 px wide, a shape between 3:1 and 4:5, and under 5 MB. The feed preview then shows how much of a phone screen it fills and whether anything gets trimmed.

      The rules

What size should a LinkedIn post image be?

Use 1080 × 1350 px for the most space in the feed, 1080 × 1080 px for a square, or 1200 × 628 px for landscape. LinkedIn accepts any photo that is at least 552 × 276 px, between 3:1 and 4:5 in shape and under 5 MB, and it recommends a width of at least 1080 px.

Limits from LinkedIn’s help page “Share photos on LinkedIn”: 552 × 276 px minimum, 1080 px width recommended, 3:1 to 4:5 shape, 5 MB per photo, 20 photos per post. Screen share assumes a 375 px wide phone showing about 700 px of feed.

Why does LinkedIn crop my image?

LinkedIn crops any photo that is taller than 4:5 or wider than 3:1. It keeps the centre and cuts the top and bottom of a tall photo, such as a 9:16 phone screenshot, or the sides of a panorama. Crop it yourself first so you choose what stays in view.

In the checker, pick 4:5 for a tall photo or 1.91:1 for a wide one, then drag the frame over the part that matters. The original file is never changed.

      Order matters

How does LinkedIn arrange multiple photos?

The first photo decides the layout. Two photos sit side by side and keep their shapes. With three or more, a landscape first photo spans the top with the others in a row below, while a portrait or square first photo takes the left column with the others stacked on the right. A post can hold up to 20 photos.

The feed shows four tiles and puts a “+” count on the last one when there are more. Reorder photos in the checker to compare layouts.

      The human check

How do you keep text readable in a LinkedIn image?

Look at the image at phone size before you post. Keep to one idea, use large type with strong contrast, and leave space around the edges. If you have to zoom in to read a line in the phone preview, most people scrolling past won’t read it either.

Let the image carry one idea and put the detail in your post. The Text Formatter helps you shape the opening lines that appear before “…more”.

      FAQ

      LinkedIn image questions

      Is 1080 × 1350 a good size for LinkedIn?
Yes. 1080 × 1350 is a 4:5 portrait, the tallest shape LinkedIn shows without cutting anything, and it meets the 1080 px width LinkedIn recommends. It fills about two thirds of a phone screen, more than a square or landscape image.
Can you post a 1920 × 1080 image on LinkedIn?
Yes. 1920 × 1080 is 16:9, inside LinkedIn’s 3:1 to 4:5 range, so it appears without cropping. It takes up less of a phone screen than a square or 4:5 image, so crop to 4:5 if you want more space in the mobile feed.
What is the maximum image size for a LinkedIn post?
LinkedIn’s upload limit for a photo is 5 MB. The tallest shape it shows uncropped is 4:5 and the widest is 3:1. A post can hold up to 20 photos.
How does LinkedIn arrange multiple photos?
Two photos sit side by side and keep their shapes. With three or more, a landscape first photo goes across the top with the rest in a row below, and a portrait or square first photo takes the left column with the rest stacked on the right.
      Is the feed preview exact?
It follows the layout rules LinkedIn publishes, but LinkedIn can change how the feed looks on a given device. Check the final post in LinkedIn’s composer before you publish.
Are my photos uploaded to Pineable?
No. Photos are checked, previewed and cropped in your browser. Pineable never receives or stores them.
